Equipment:
It is the responsibility of every player to maintain and protect the gear that is issued to him, and return it in good condition at the end of the season. Safety is our first priority. If your equipment is damaged during the season, please report the problem to your Head Coach so that it can be replaced or repaired immediately. The Raiders can have no responsibility for problems that are not reported. Division & Weights:
Players in Pee Wee Division must be at least 45 pounds. All Division and Weight Classes are subject to change as we are waiting for the Official 2010 PYFL Division & Weight Classifications to be announced.
Preseason Practices:
In the first week of practice, the uniform will be Spirit Pack T-Shirts, Shorts and Cleats. (Helmets are optional depending on the coach.) Practice will begin promptly at 6 pm, however, all players should report no later than 5:45 pm to prepare. All players will be required to log 20 hrs of physical conditioning before they will be allowed to participate in full contact.
Practices during the month of August are held on Monday through Friday, and Saturdays depending on the coach and jamboree commitments. The question always arises, “We’ve had our family vacation planned for months. How will missing those practices impact on my son?” The answer is: It depends on your son. If he’s a good athlete, is a quick study and works hard, it may not impact on him too harshly. However, if he is not, he may not recover from the deficit throughout the season. Preseason practices are all about teaching and learning. Many of the younger players will be experiencing things for the first time. Often the teaching strategies employed use building blocks that require proficiency in one before you go on to the next. If a player misses a whole week of building blocks, it’s going to make it difficult to catch up.
After Labor Day practice schedules will move to three days per week with games on Saturdays. The times are left to the discretion of the coach and availability of field space.
Game Schedules:
The Raiders Organization is part of the Pacific Youth Football League. The PYFL is responsible for all scheduling. While we understand the need for you to know when games will be scheduled so that you can organize your own family schedule, we have absolutely no power over the process. Normally, schedules for the year are handed out the week before the first scheduled game and sometimes even later. Once schedules are officially reported, we will get them to you immediately.
